About This Race

Lace up for a true winter running challenge at the 14th Annual Frozen Pilgrim, returning to Marshfield, MA, on Sunday, January 25, 2026. This festive event, hosted by South Shore Race Management, offers a choice of 1-mile, 3-mile, or 5-mile distances, catering to all levels from casual strollers to seasoned runners. Starting and finishing at Marshfield High School, the course is known for its varied terrain. While the initial mile loops the school grounds, the route quickly transitions to the streets, featuring "nice amounts of climbing" in the second mile and a welcome, "gradual downhill finishing" stretch over the last mile and a half. Runners should be prepared for typical race day conditions, which often see temperatures ranging from the low 20s to upper 30s, with a small chance of precipitation. Past years have brought everything from blizzards to icy patches in shaded residential areas, adding an element of exhilarating unpredictability to this "chilly run".

The Frozen Pilgrim isn't just about conquering the cold; it's a community-focused event that proudly supports the Kurt Geissler Foundation for Youth Achievement. Participants can expect a spirited atmosphere and the camaraderie that comes with tackling a winter race. Volunteers will be on hand with water stations to support runners throughout the course. With plenty of free parking available on-site at Marshfield High School, the event is also walker-friendly, welcoming running strollers (please start in the back). After crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment at the post-race awards ceremony held in the high school foyer.
