About This Race

Lace up your running shoes and embrace the luck of the Irish at the annual Leprechaun Leap 10K, taking place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in scenic Fairfax Station, Virginia. This festive event invites runners to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a "magically good time" amidst the natural beauty of Burke Lake Park. Perfect for both seasoned runners and those looking for a lively outing, the Leprechaun Leap promises a memorable start to your St. Patrick's Day festivities.

The 10K course winds through the picturesque trails of Burke Lake Park, featuring a mostly paved route with a short section of gravel. Runners can expect limited elevation gains, making for a generally flat and fast experience, as the 10K consists of two out-and-back loops of the 5K course. Two water stations are strategically placed along the 5K loop, offering aid at approximately mile markers 0.7 and 2.4, with Gatorade available at some stops, ensuring runners are well-hydrated throughout their journey. Typical race day conditions in mid-March often bring highs around 53°F and lows of 32°F, with a 12% chance of precipitation, providing cool and invigorating running weather.

Beyond the course, the Leprechaun Leap offers a comprehensive race experience. Participants will receive a finisher's medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the first and second place in various age groups from 19 & Under to 70+. The race also proudly supports the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation, contributing to a worthy cause with every stride. Walkers are welcome, and a virtual race option is available for those unable to attend in person, ensuring everyone can join the fun. Packet pickup is conveniently available on race day at Burke Lake Park, where restrooms are located near Shelter A.
