Lace up your running shoes and embrace the aloha spirit at the Lodi Optimist ONE MOTHER OF A RUN, returning for its 16th annual celebration on May 9, 2026, in scenic Lodi, WI. This beloved Mother's Day weekend tradition, a Hawaiian Luau Celebration, offers a trio of distances to challenge every runner and walker. Starting and finishing at the Lodi High School Sports Complex, participants can expect a vibrant atmosphere with the Lodi community turning out in full force, complete with flower crowns, aloha shirts, ukuleles, and cheers echoing like ocean waves. Typical race day conditions in early May feature pleasant highs around 68F and lows near 44F, with only an 18% chance of precipitation, creating ideal conditions for a memorable run.

For the adventurous, the 11-Mile Island Challenge Run lives up to its reputation as one of Wisconsin's toughest, featuring a beastly loop that tackles Lodi's signature "volcanic hills" with an elevation gain of approximately 800 feet, promising grit-testing climbs and soul-soothing views across rolling farmland and scenic trails. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, the 5K Luau Run/Walk offers a flat-to-rolling 3.1-mile jaunt through meadows and woods, showcasing Wisconsin's springtime splendor with wildflower-lined paths – perfect for a leisurely stroll with family or a fast, competitive sprint. Strollers are welcome on the 5K course. Little legends can join the fun in the One Mile Keiki Fun Run, a gentle, untimed dash around the sports complex fields, 100% off-road and safe, where every child receives a lei at the finish.

This 100% volunteer-run event provides aid stations stocked with tropical hydration, including water, Gatorade, and even banana "poi," along with convenient on-course restrooms.
