Lace up for a truly meaningful experience at the North Country Honor Run, a powerful 5K event taking place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Plattsburgh, NY. Starting and finishing at the historic 202 US Oval, this race offers more than just a physical challenge; it's a heartfelt tribute to our local veterans. Runners and walkers will have the unique opportunity to join veterans for a portion of their parade route, moving alongside a motorcade in an unforgettable show of community appreciation.
Organized by the dedicated seventh-grade class of Beekmantown Middle School as a project-based learning initiative, the North Country Honor Run proudly benefits the North Country Honor Flight. This vital non-profit organization ensures that our World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans receive the honor they deserve by transporting them to Washington, D.C., to visit their national memorials. The day begins with a poignant Honor Flight send-off ceremony at 7:00 a.m., with the 5K race kicking off at 8:00 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic apparel, adding to the inspiring atmosphere.
With typical race day conditions boasting comfortable highs around 69°F and lows around 45°F, along with a minimal 13% chance of precipitation, May 16th promises ideal weather for a memorable run. Beyond the 5K, the event also features a 1 Mile US Oval Walk and a Children's Bike Brigade, making it a perfect occasion for the entire family to participate and show their support for our heroes. The North Country Honor Run is more than a race; it’s a community coming together to honor service and sacrifice.
