About This Race

Embark on an unforgettable trail running adventure at the Ultramaraton Baja Trail 50 & Carrera 30k, set for March 15, 2026, in the rugged landscapes surrounding Tijuana, Baja California. This highly anticipated event, celebrating its 11th edition, challenges runners with demanding courses over 50K and 30K distances, promising both intense physical effort and breathtaking scenery. Known as one of the toughest trail races in the San Diego County/Baja California region, the Ultramaraton Baja Trail is a true test of grit against relentless slopes and technical terrain.

The 50K course, with approximately 6,538 feet (around 1,993 meters) of elevation gain and loss, takes runners through a diverse landscape featuring very steep uphills, challenging downhills, and varied surfaces including rocks, roots, and ruts. Participants will navigate rolling green hills, cross countless valleys and streams, and run along ridge lines offering spectacular views, including a climb to Coronel Hill where panoramic vistas stretch from Rosarito all the way to the San Diego coastline. This "breathtaking course" promises a rewarding experience through forests and on high hilltops, challenging every runner who takes it on.

Hosted by Baja Trail Runners, the event fosters a unique atmosphere by bringing together trail running communities from both Mexico and the United States. Runners consistently praise the race for being well-organized and supported by enthusiastic volunteers at well-stocked aid stations. Typical race day conditions in mid-March offer pleasant running weather, with highs around 69°F and lows around 47°F, and only a 6% chance of precipitation, creating ideal circumstances to push your limits on these stunning Baja trails.
