Lace up for an unforgettable racing experience at the 2026 Augusta Half Marathon 10K 5K, proudly presented by Georgia Carolina Orthopedics. Taking place on February 28, 2026, in historic Augusta, GA, this event offers distances for every runner, including a 13.1-mile Half Marathon, a 6.2-mile 10K, and a 3.1-mile 5K. Runners can anticipate typical race day conditions with comfortable highs around 66°F and lows around 46°F, and only a 15% chance of precipitation, providing an ideal environment for personal bests.
The scenic courses, all USATF certified and qualifiers for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, begin from the Augusta Common, guiding participants through the "Garden City's" charming streets. Expect a road race environment with mostly good asphalt, showcasing wide, tree-lined avenues, revitalized downtown architecture, and authentic Southern charm. Half Marathon participants will journey past the Augusta Museum of History and the boyhood home of Woodrow Wilson, through Augusta University's health sciences campus, and into the historic Summerville neighborhood, known for its beautiful, decades-old residential homes. While the Half Marathon features a long, gradual uphill section around Summerville and gently rolling terrain with approximately 100-170 meters of elevation gain, the 10K offers a mildly undulating course with around 60-80 meters of gain, and the 5K is largely flat, making it welcoming for all skill levels. Aid stations are well-stocked with water and Gatorade, along with portapots, ensuring runners are supported throughout their race.
This eighteenth annual event is renowned for its well-organized execution and supportive atmosphere, with many runners praising the "nicest volunteers" who provide consistent encouragement. A truly unique and moving feature for Half Marathoners is the "wear blue Mile" around mile 8, a living memorial honoring fallen service members with American flags and tribute posters lining the course. Proceeds from the race benefit the Augusta Sports Council's G.A.M.E.S. Scholarship fund, supporting local high school student-athletes. Finishers receive a long-sleeve technical shirt and a commemorative medal, with post-race refreshments and beer awaiting at the finish line on Broad Street.
