2026 Capitol Hill Classic 10K, 3K, and Fun Run

As Washington, D.C.'s largest and oldest 10K race, the Classic has been a beloved Capitol Hill tradition for over four decades, directly supporting the Capitol Hill Cluster School and its vital programs. Expect typical race day conditions in mid-May with comfortable highs around 77F and lows near 59F, alongside a modest 18% chance of precipitation.

The USATF-certified 10K course provides a unique opportunity to tour historic Capitol Hill, exclusively on its roads. Runners will begin and end in front of Peabody Primary School and traverse through picturesque neighborhoods, passing impressive landmarks such as Stanton Park, the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress. While largely scenic, be prepared for a notable, albeit brief, "quad-eating" hill around the 1.5-mile mark, a compact 80-foot elevation gain that adds a challenging kick before the course flattens out again. The 3K also starts at Peabody and guides participants along East Capitol Street to Lincoln Park and back, offering a flatter profile with a few turns and a turnaround. Water stations are strategically placed on both the 10K (around miles 2 and 4) and 3K courses (halfway), ensuring you stay hydrated, and post-race refreshments await at the finish line in Stanton Park.
