Lace up for a challenging and rewarding experience at the 2026 Hope for Horses 5k/10k, set amidst the scenic trails of Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, VA, on April 4, 2026. This event, offering both 5K and 10K distances, is more than just a race; it's a "race for a cause," with proceeds directly benefiting Hope For Horses, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating Off the Track Thoroughbreds and other equines in need.
Runners can anticipate a "challenging course with some hills along the route," featuring "technical obstacles like roots, rocks, and inclines" as they explore a "new trail route" and "new scenery" within the park. Aid stations will be strategically placed, with four water stops for the 10K (approximately at mile markers .7, 2.9, 4.1, & 5.5) and two for the 5K (around mile markers .7 & 2.4); some stations will also provide Gatorade. Typical race day conditions in early April in Triangle, VA, see highs around 61F and lows around 39F, with a 13% chance of precipitation. Participants will receive a finisher's coin and a technical event shirt, with awards presented to the top three overall men and women, as well as the first and second place male and female in various age categories. Packet pickup is available at the event, and restrooms are located near the visitor center.
