Lace up for a meaningful journey at the 2026 Patriot 5K-10K Run/Walk, set to take place on Sunday, June 14th, in the scenic city of Rome, NY. This esteemed event, proudly sponsored by the Roman Runners Club, offers participants the choice of a 10K run, a 5K run, or a 2-mile walk, making it perfect for all fitness levels. Both races will commence at 9:00 AM from the Orgill Warehouse, where chip timing ensures accurate results for every runner. As part of the prestigious Route 20 Road Challenge, the Patriot Run provides a fantastic opportunity to join a larger regional racing circuit.
This race stands out for its heartfelt dedication; the 2026 event will honor the memory of US Military College ROTC Cadet Richard Mitchell, continuing a tradition of celebrating local fallen heroes. Participants can expect a well-supported road course, clearly marked with red and yellow arrows, orange cones, and red, white, and blue tape, guided by numerous volunteers in green vests. Two aid stations, graciously serviced by the Blue Star Moms, will be available on the course, providing water to keep you hydrated. Typical race day conditions in mid-June in Rome, NY, offer pleasant weather, with highs around 76°F and lows near 54°F, and a relatively low 18% chance of precipitation.
Runners can anticipate a fun and competitive atmosphere, with awards presented three deep across various age categories for both the 5K and 10K. Overall male and female winners will receive a special trophy, and there are dedicated awards for first-place male and female active/veteran military participants. All registered participants who sign up by May 22, 2026, will receive a commemorative race shirt, and packet pick-up will be conveniently held on race day from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM at Orgill. Joining the 2026 Patriot 5K-10K Run/Walk is more than just a race; it's a chance to challenge yourself, engage with the community, and honor those who have served, with proceeds supporting local veterans through the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 944.
