Lace up for the 2026 Princeton 5K, a cherished community tradition returning on Saturday, March 21st, in the heart of Princeton, NJ. Celebrating its 17th year, this event invites runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to experience a scenic 5K course that winds through the charming neighborhoods surrounding Princeton High School and Princeton Middle School. The course has been recently re-certified, featuring an updated start and finish line at Princeton Middle School, located at 217 Walnut Lane. Participants can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 53°F and lows around 31°F, and only a 14% chance of precipitation, making for ideal spring running weather.
Beyond the main 5K, families will love the popular Kids Dash, a challenging 300M loop designed for children under 10, with every young participant receiving a youth t-shirt to wear with pride. New for 2026, the event introduces exciting team competitions, including family-inspired categories like Mother/Daughter and Father/Son, where combined times will determine the fastest duos. A brand-new Princeton 5K trophy will also be awarded to the school with the highest number of participants, fostering a spirited rivalry within the local community.
The Princeton 5K is more than just a race; it's a vibrant gathering that generously supports the Princeton High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Runners also have the unique opportunity to run for free by committing to fundraise $150 or more for these student-athletes, making every stride count towards a great cause. The 5K begins at 8:30 AM, followed by the Kids Dash at 9:30 AM, promising a morning of fitness, fun, and community spirit.
