Get ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend at the 20th Shamrock Shuffle, returning to the picturesque coastal town of Lewes, Delaware, on Sunday, March 15, 2026. This landmark event, organized by the Seashore Striders, introduces an exciting new Half-Marathon distance alongside its popular 5k and a brand-new 2-Person Relay, offering an invigorating challenge for every runner.

The course promises a "flat and fast" experience, winding through the breathtaking scenery of Cape Henlopen State Park, including the beautiful Gordon's Pond Trail, and offering refreshing seaside views. Runners will embark on a unique "T" shaped route, venturing from Main Beach to Lewes, then towards Gordon's Pond, and finally looping back to the finish line at Main Beach, located at the north end of the Bathhouse lot. For those tackling the half-marathon, a strict 15:00 minute-per-mile pace must be maintained, ensuring a competitive and focused race environment (walkers are encouraged to enjoy the 5k). Water stations and portable restrooms will be strategically placed at multiple points along both the 5k and half-marathon/relay courses to support participants.

This year's addition of a 2-Person Relay adds a unique team dynamic, with a manual chip exchange at the 6.0-mile mark at Herring Point. The Shamrock Shuffle is not only a fantastic way to usher in spring but also serves as an excellent training run for the Seashore Classic Half Marathon in early May. With typical race day conditions seeing highs around 55F and lows around 36F, and only a 12% chance of precipitation, it's often ideal weather for setting a personal best on this scenic coastal course.
