The 3/4 MINUS CYKELTUR, a premier gravel cycling event, returns to Sandpoint, Idaho, on May 2, 2026, inviting riders to experience the stunning natural beauty and challenging terrain of North Idaho's backcountry. Offering two distinct routes, the "One Humper" covers a robust 56 miles with 2,388 feet of elevation gain, while the "Two Humper" extends to a formidable 78 miles, tackling 4,312 feet of climbing. Both courses weave through mixed-surface roads, combining asphalt and extensive gravel sections, with the longer route further challenging cyclists with approximately four miles of unpaved singletrack trails. This "gravel bike tour"—as its Danish name implies—promises picturesque scenery of mountains and rural landscapes, with traction tires recommended for optimal performance on the varied surfaces.
As the inaugural stage of the Idaho Panhandle Gravel Series, the 3/4 MINUS CYKELTUR is more than just a race; it's a vibrant community event with proceeds benefiting local charities such as the Pend O'reille Pedalers and KRFY - Panhandle Community Radio. Riders will find well-supported routes, featuring two to three aid stations on the 56-mile course and three to four on the 78-mile course, providing essential hydration, energy supplements, and portable toilets. Support vehicles are also on standby for any mechanical assistance.
The excitement begins and concludes at Matchwood Brewing Company on Oak Street, serving as both the start/finish line and the hub for pre-ride packet pickup and an energetic post-ride celebration. Participants can look forward to a lively atmosphere with food, drinks, and live music, celebrating their accomplishments alongside fellow cyclists. Typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable highs around 64F and lows near 34F, with a minimal 11% chance of precipitation, making for ideal spring riding weather.
