36th Annual Sneaker Creeper

Lace up for a heartwarming community tradition at the 36th Annual Sneaker Creeper, returning to Worton, MD, on Friday, May 22, 2026. This cherished event, which originated in 1988, has spent over three decades fostering fitness, friendship, and sportsmanship while raising vital funds for Henry Highland Garnet Elementary, a Title 1 school. All proceeds directly support school events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities through the PTA. More than just a race, the Sneaker Creeper also marks the exciting kickoff of the Chestertown Tea Party Festival, making it a vibrant celebration for all.

The action unfolds at Kent County High School's Trojan Stadium, offering a classic track experience for participants of all ages. While the event features a 1-mile distance, it's truly a day for young runners, with a variety of races tailored for children aged 2 to 11. Distances range from a 25-yard dash for the youngest competitors to a quarter-mile and half-mile, culminating in the 1-mile run for 11-year-olds. On race day, typical conditions feature highs around 78F and lows around 62F, with a modest 14% chance of precipitation, providing a comfortable setting for an evening of friendly competition. The first race is scheduled to begin promptly at 5:30 PM EDT.
