Get ready for the 44th OSCR, a premier winter endurance challenge set for Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the stunning landscapes of Seeley Lake, Montana. Known historically as "Over Seeley's Creeks and Ridges," this race lives up to its name, offering a "damn-tough" experience that attracts athletes from many states. Participants can choose their challenge from a 44K, 20K (Skate and Classic options available), 10K, or a 5K Youth race, all starting and finishing at the welcoming Seeley Creek trailhead. Expect typical race day conditions with highs around 32F and lows near 16F, and a 12% chance of precipitation, creating a true winter racing atmosphere.

The OSCR course is celebrated for its scenic beauty and demanding terrain. The 44K utilizes a single-loop format, incorporating both professionally designed Nordic trails and adjacent snowmobile trails, offering rolling hills and significant elevation gains that challenge even the most seasoned skiers. This "western Montana's premier sufferfest" will push you to your limits amidst breathtaking views. Aid stations strategically placed along the 44K route (at approximately 14K, 22K, and 30K) will keep you fueled with water, Heed, Hammer Gels, and cookies, while the 20K course will feature one aid station at around 10K.

Beyond the physical challenge, the OSCR offers a vibrant community experience. Race day registration and packet pickup are conveniently located at the Yurt at the trailhead, with outdoor fires to keep you warm. The supportive atmosphere, where "racers from the early years still come and ski, ring the cow bells, and cheer on new and long standing participants," creates an unforgettable event. After crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment with post-race snacks and beverages, followed by a chili feed and awards ceremony, complete with awesome raffle items at the Seeley Lake Community Hall. As part of the MT Nordic Cup series, the 44th OSCR promises a race that is as rewarding as it is challenging.
