Lace up for a beloved tradition with a fresh perspective at the 48th Annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in scenic Hartwell, GA. This long-standing event, hosted by the Hart County Running Club and Hartwell Lions Club, has historically drawn runners to one of Georgia's most picturesque courses, with all proceeds benefiting the Hart County High School Cross Country and Track Teams.

For its 48th iteration, the race presents an exciting, modified 4K (approximately 2.48 miles) run/walk. Due to upcoming floodgate maintenance by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the course will feature a beautiful lakeside route around the dam, offering a unique opportunity to experience the stunning natural beauty of Lake Hartwell without crossing the dam itself. The run will start and finish at the Big Oaks Recreation Area, providing a convenient hub for participants. Runners can anticipate typical race day conditions with highs around 77°F and lows around 50°F, accompanied by a low 12% chance of precipitation, creating comfortable running weather.

While the 10K distance will not be offered this year, participants can still expect a fantastic atmosphere and a rewarding race experience along the scenic shores of Lake Hartwell. Post-race, celebrate your accomplishment with fellow runners, as food, water, and sports drinks will be available at the finish line. The 48th Annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run promises an engaging event for all, upholding its reputation as a cherished community race.
