Abe Lincoln Trail Trek - 5K / 10K

This trail race, hosted in the beautiful Carpenter Park, invites runners to explore some of central Illinois's most stunning natural terrain. Participants in either the 5K or 10K will enjoy sweeping views of the Sangamon River, winding woodland trails, and peaceful river-bottom fields, with opportunities to spot local wildlife like deer, squirrels, and native birds along the way. The course is thoughtfully designed with varied trail surfaces, offering a perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment for both seasoned trail runners and those new to the adventure.

The Abe Lincoln Trail Trek marks the exciting kickoff of the All-American Trail Trek Series, a unique three-race experience celebrating iconic local trails. Moving to an April date ensures cooler temperatures and firmer trails, promising an enhanced race experience for all participants. Typical race day conditions in early April feature comfortable highs around 63°F and lows around 40°F, with a modest 17% chance of precipitation. All runners will receive a stylish race T-shirt and a commemorative finisher medal, with awards presented to top overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners in 10-year brackets. Those who register for the entire All-American Trail Trek Series will also earn a commemorative coffee mug and automatic entry into a drawing for a Garmin Forerunner watch.
