AJ Howard Memorial 5K

Lace up for a meaningful stride at the AJ Howard Memorial 5K, set to take place on February 7, 2026, in Belton, TX. This inspiring 5K event invites runners and walkers of all abilities to join a community dedicated to honoring the memory of AJ Howard, a cherished band member remembered for his servant's heart. Every step taken and every dollar raised directly benefits the AJ Howard Scholarship Fund, providing crucial financial assistance to band students at Belton High School, Belton Middle School, and South Belton Middle School for uniforms, instruments, and private lessons.

The course itself offers a pleasant experience, utilizing an out-and-back route along the scenic Belton Hike & Bike Trail. Starting from the open field at Liberty Park, across from BCYC, runners will journey through Liberty, Yetti Polk, and Harris Parks, enjoying the central Belton scenery. This chip-timed event is designed for enjoyment, welcoming both strollers and pets, ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere. You can expect typical race day conditions to be crisp, with highs around 63F and lows near 37F, and only a 7% chance of precipitation. Three on-course water stations will be available to keep participants hydrated.

Beyond the run, the AJ Howard Memorial 5K cultivates a vibrant community spirit. Participants can look forward to food trucks, complimentary Black Rifle Coffee, and exciting bib drawings. As part of the Cen-Tex Race Series, competitors also earn series points, with awards presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in each age group. For those who wish to support the cause but can't be at the starting line, a "Sleep-In 5K" option is also available.
