Alaska Run for Women

Experience the inspiring spirit and powerful camaraderie of the Alaska Run For Women, one of the largest all-women's runs in the country, taking place on June 6, 2026, in Anchorage, AK. This celebrated event, rooted in a history of empowering women since 1993, is dedicated to raising vital funds and awareness for breast cancer and women's health, while also showcasing the athletic talents of Alaskan women. The race offers distances of 5 miles (timed and untimed) and a 1-mile untimed run, all starting and finishing at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Campus near Cuddy Quad. The road course, which received excellent feedback after moving to its current location in 2022, guides participants through a designated route that runners describe as a wonderful experience. Aid stations are strategically placed at Mile 1, Mile 2, Mile 3, and Mile 4 on the 5-mile course, and a water station is also available on the 1-mile course, ensuring runners are well-supported. Typical race day conditions in early June offer pleasant weather with highs around 64F and lows near 48F, and only a 3% chance of precipitation, providing ideal running conditions.

Beyond the race itself, the Alaska Run For Women fosters an incredible sense of sisterhood and community support. Breast cancer survivors are specially recognized with pink hats and receive a pink carnation at the finish line. Since its inception, the event has raised over $6.2 million in cash and donated mammograms, directly benefiting breast cancer research, education, and early detection initiatives across Alaska.
