Prepare for an unforgettable journey through Baltimore's historic heart with the Altra Charles Street 12 and 2-Person Relay, presented by Kelly Benefits, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. This "monumental race" offers a unique point-to-point experience, beginning at The Shops at Kenilworth in Towson and culminating in a vibrant downtown Baltimore celebration. As a designated National Scenic Byway, Charles Street provides a picturesque course that winds through charming neighborhoods and past esteemed historical, religious, and educational institutions, including Loyola University and the iconic Washington Monument. While the course is largely a net downhill, runners should be ready for some initial steeper rolling hills within the first three miles before enjoying a more forgiving descent through the latter half of the race. Typical race day conditions in early September see highs around 84F and lows around 69F, with a 13% chance of precipitation.

Both individual 12-mile runners and 2-person relay teams (each tackling a 6-mile leg) will find robust support along the route. Six well-stocked aid stations are strategically placed, offering water at mile 2.5 and both water and electrolytes at subsequent stops at miles 4.8, 6.1, 7.4, 9, and 10.9, along with readily available porta-potties. The event is renowned for its excellent logistics, including complimentary bus transportation from the finish line area to the start, ensuring a smooth pre-race experience.
