Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic

Lace up for the Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic, a cherished Batesville tradition returning on June 6, 2026. This historic road race, formerly known as the White River 4 Mile Classic, offers a unique 4-mile challenge through the scenic and historic residential and downtown districts of Batesville, Arkansas. The USATF-certified course features a downhill start but includes a couple of substantial climbs through nearby neighborhoods mid-race, making for an engaging and varied run described by past participants as often "hot, humid, and hilly". Prepare for typical race day conditions with highs around 86°F and lows near 64°F, and a 14% chance of precipitation.

The Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic is more than just a race; it's a heartfelt tribute to a beloved local runner, Andy Buschmann, who, along with Jack Heston, ran every version of this event since its founding in 1978 or 1979 until Andy's passing in 2021. His legacy and commitment to running are honored as participants, including members of Andy's family, continue the tradition. The event, starting and finishing on Main Street near City Hall, fosters a strong community atmosphere, with proceeds benefiting local charities such as the Children's Advocacy Center of Independence County and Main Street Batesville. Finishers will receive a commemorative race goodie, and awards will be presented across numerous age groups, as well as to overall and masters male and female winners.
