Lace up your running shoes for the 5th annual Arizona Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, set to take place on March 1, 2026, in sunny Peoria, Arizona! This popular event, with its catchy slogan "It's Better in the Desert!", offers a fantastic opportunity for runners of all levels to challenge themselves. Starting and finishing at Rio Vista Park, the race provides a convenient and welcoming atmosphere for all participants. Early March typically brings ideal running weather to Peoria, with comfortable highs around 74°F and lows around 49°F, and a minimal 4% chance of precipitation, creating perfect conditions for a personal best.
The course itself is generally flat with some gentle hills, running along dedicated asphalt and concrete paths within the New River Trail System. This out-and-back route begins on the Skunk Creek Trail before transitioning to the New River Trail, offering consistent paved surfaces and scenic views of the natural park landscapes. While it is an open-use trail system, runners can expect ample support with multiple aid stations providing water and Gatorade, along with strategically placed restrooms for the longer distances. Half Marathon participants will also find GU Gels at key points on the course.
Participants will be rewarded for their efforts with custom event finisher's medals and custom Dri-Fit Tech T-shirts, with an option to upgrade to a hoodie. After crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment with a complimentary "Athlete's Brunch" featuring granola bars, fruit, water, and Gatorade. With a participant limit of 700, this event fosters a supportive community feel. Packet pickup is available the day before at Road Runner Sports in North Phoenix, or on race day morning starting at 6:30 AM at Rio Vista Park. Strollers and leashed pets are welcome on the course, but must start at the back of the pack.
