Get ready for a vibrant evening of community and competition at the Back The Track 5K & Woodford Track Challenge on Friday, August 14, 2026, in picturesque Versailles, Kentucky. Kicking off at 7:30 PM EDT from the new Woodford County High School track, this event offers a timed 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk and an untimed 1-mile fun run/walk, both traversing a paved course through the school complex and the scenic Falling Springs Bypass. Runners will experience a smooth, enjoyable route that begins and ends on the track itself. Proceeds from this event directly benefit the Woodford County Track Club, supporting track and field programs in public schools throughout Woodford County.
What truly sets this race apart is its festive atmosphere and unique pre-race activities. Arrive early to participate in the Woodford Track Challenge, a series of special events from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM where participants can test their skills in various track and field disciplines. For the younger spectators, a lively Stick Horse Race for children aged 10 and under takes place at 7:00 PM, complete with a complimentary stick horse to keep. Participants are encouraged to don their best black and gold attire to show support, adding to the energetic community spirit. Typical race day conditions in mid-August feature highs around 84°F and lows around 65°F, with a modest 16% chance of precipitation.
Every participant in the 5K will receive a commemorative super soft race shirt, and free race photos will capture your memorable moments. Awards are presented to the top three male and female overall finishers, as well as the top three in various five-year age divisions. Beyond the race, enjoy food, fun, fellowship, and music, all contributing to a fantastic cause. A virtual option is also available for those who wish to support the Woodford County Track Club from afar.
