Embark on an unforgettable journey at the 16th Annual BCH Foundation Trestle Hustle, set against the picturesque backdrop of the High Trestle Trail in Madrid, Iowa, from June 19-21, 2026, with in-person races taking place on Saturday, June 20. This popular event, hosted by the Boone County Hospital Foundation, kicks off the High Trestle Fest and welcomes participants of all abilities to experience the unique charm of this renowned rail-trail. Race day typically brings highs around 82F and lows around 63F, with a 19% chance of precipitation, creating classic summer conditions for your athletic endeavors.
Runners can choose from exhilarating 5K (3.1M) and 10K (6.2M) routes, or take on the challenging Duathlon, featuring a 2-mile run, a 14-mile bike, and another 2-mile run. A Duathlon Relay option is also available. All in-person races begin at Dalander Park / Johnson Trailhead (702 E 3rd St, Madrid, IA). The course itself is a paved rail-trail, offering mostly flat terrain with gentle elevation changes, winding through scenic farmlands and wooded areas. The true highlight for many is the iconic High Trestle Trail Bridge, a half-mile-long, 13-story structure adorned with dazzling "From Here to There" LED lights; note that only the 10K race course crosses this spectacular landmark.
The BCH Foundation Trestle Hustle is known for its supportive atmosphere and excellent organization. Aid stations along the route provide "grab and go" refreshments like granola bars and bottled water, alongside handwashing stations and portable toilets.
