Embark on a breathtaking journey through Southwest Montana at the Beaverhead Marathon and Half Marathon on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Dillon. This 9th annual event offers runners a unique opportunity to experience the region's stunning natural beauty and a vibrant community atmosphere. Both the 26.2M and 13.1M races feature a scenic loop course, starting and finishing at the lively Beaverhead Brewing Company.
The course winds through the charming streets of Dillon before extending into expansive agricultural lands, providing panoramic views of the Pioneer, Blacktail, Sweetwater, Highland, and Tobacco Root Mountains. Runners can expect a diverse terrain, with the full marathon course comprising approximately one-third dirt and two-thirds pavement, while the half marathon is entirely paved. Prepare for a true Montana high-country experience, as the race is run at an elevation of around 5,240 feet. Typical race day conditions in late May are ideal for running, with highs around 67°F and lows around 38°F, accompanied by a minimal 9% chance of precipitation.
To support you throughout your race, there will be ten well-stocked aid stations, generously fueled by Hammer Nutrition, offering water, Heed, gels, fruit, and other essential snacks. Beyond the challenging yet rewarding course, the Beaverhead Marathon is celebrated for its supportive and less competitive community vibe. Upon crossing the finish line, celebrate your accomplishment with a complimentary beer from Beaverhead Brewing Company, a burger, a drink, and chips, along with a well-deserved finisher medal and a commemorative race hat.
