Big Bay Relay

Lace up your shoes for the Big Bay Relay, an iconic team running experience set against the stunning backdrop of Michigan's Upper Peninsula on May 16, 2026. This picturesque 25-mile relay race challenges teams of five (or up to seven for youth teams) to conquer the "26-ish miles" stretching from Marquette to Big Bay. Runners will traverse Marquette's historic 550 Big Bay Road, enjoying beautiful landscapes along the highway as they hand off the baton after approximately one mile each, with teammates providing support from their race vehicle.

The Big Bay Relay boasts a rich history, having first launched in 1972 and earning the title of 1990 Race of the Year by the Upper Peninsula Road Runners Club. What makes this event truly unique is its focus on camaraderie and community spirit. It's an ideal race for all abilities, from elite athletes to novice runners looking for an adventurous way to engage with the sport alongside friends and family. The journey begins at the Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette and culminates at Draver Park in Big Bay, promising a memorable finish for every team.
