Lace up for the BIG DAY RUN OFF, a thrilling half marathon taking place on May 3, 2026, in the scenic town of Gorham, NH. This grassroots event immerses runners in the stunning Coös Trails Network, nestled on the northern end of the Presidential Mountain Range. The 13.1-mile course is predominantly singletrack, offering a dynamic blend of "ups, downs, & smooth flats along hand/machine built trails". While mostly technical trail, runners will encounter brief sections of paved road, gravel road, and woods road, which are primarily used as snowmobile trails in winter. With a starting elevation of 800 feet and an impressive 1,508 feet of elevation gain, followed by 1,464 feet of loss, this course promises both a challenge and breathtaking views.
The BIG DAY RUN OFF prides itself on a supportive, grassroots atmosphere that enhances the North Country's outdoor adventure scene. The race not only offers an incredible experience but also supports the local community and trail infrastructure, with proceeds aiding the Coös Cycling Club's stewardship efforts. Runners can expect two strategically placed aid stations around mile 5 and mile 9 to keep them fueled. Typical race day conditions in early May feature comfortable highs around 62°F and lows around 38°F, with a modest 16% chance of precipitation, providing ideal weather for hitting the trails.
The convenience begins and ends at Big Day Brewing, where the race starts and finishes in the parking lot at 20 Glen Road. Participants can pick up their bibs starting at 9 AM before the 10 AM start, and ample parking is available. Big Day Brewing opens its doors pre- and post-race, offering facilities access, water, coffee, and snacks to ensure runners are well-prepared and celebrated after conquering the course. Podium awards will follow once enough racers have crossed the finish line.
