Lace up for a meaningful journey at the Blue Ducky 5K Waddle, set for Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the stunning Tickfaw State Park in Springfield, Louisiana. This annual 5K event, now in its third year, offers both an in-person and virtual option, inviting runners to experience the serene beauty of the Louisiana landscape while supporting a vital cause. The race honors the inspiring legacy of Stephany Nicolosi, an exceptional individual whose organ, eye, and tissue donations saved eight lives. A portion of all proceeds directly benefits the Chris Klug Foundation, dedicated to educating the public on the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation, embodying Stephany's love of the color blue and rubber duckies.
The course itself is a highlight, unfolding within the picturesque Tickfaw State Park. Runners will embark on an out-and-back route, primarily along the main entrance road (with runners directed to the side of the road or grass), traversing four distinct ecosystems: a cypress/tupelo swamp, a bottomland hardwood forest, a mixed pine/hardwood forest, and views of the Tickfaw River. The park's boardwalks and displays offer glimpses into the rich local environment. The 5K finishes near the River Trail head, with convenient access to restrooms at the start/finish area. Typical race day conditions in mid-May present warm weather, with highs around 85°F and lows around 69°F, and a 14% chance of precipitation. Participants can look forward to event swag, including a race shirt and sunglasses, along with post-race refreshments such as fruit salad and breakfast sandwiches. Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers.
