Boy with the Boot 5K

Lace up your running shoes for the ninth annual Boy with the Boot 5K, a cherished Independence Day tradition in Sandusky, Ohio, happening on July 4, 2026. This popular event, part of the 2026 RUNDUSKY Race Series, offers a community-friendly 3.1-mile course perfect for runners and walkers of all paces. The race kicks off the annual Stars & Stripes Festival, promising a fantastic atmosphere filled with camaraderie and excitement.

The scenic course begins and ends at the iconic Boy with the Boot statue in historic Washington Park, a beloved symbol of Sandusky. Over half of the route guides participants along the picturesque waterfront Sandusky Bay Pathway, offering beautiful views as you make your way through the city. Aid stations with water stops and cooling stations will be available along the way to help you beat the typical race day conditions, which usually see highs around 82°F and lows around 67°F, with a 14% chance of precipitation.

Beyond the scenic run, participants will receive a stylish Dri-fit t-shirt and a commemorative medal to celebrate their achievement. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in each age group, with a special award for the most Red, White & Blue Spirit. Proceeds from the event support free and reduced-cost youth programming offered by Sandusky Parks & Recreation, making your participation even more impactful.
