Get ready to lace up your running shoes for the inaugural BT4S BridgeFest 5k, set to take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the charming community of Saranac, MI. This 3.1-mile (5k) event promises a memorable experience for participants of all ages and abilities, kicking off at 8:00 AM. Starting and finishing at the Saranac Trail Head parking lot (147 North Bridge St), the course boasts a flat and paved route, making it perfect for runners, walkers, and even those pushing strollers.
The unique course will guide participants from the Saranac Trail Head, under the Morrison Lake bridge via a scenic sidewalk, and into a nature park where two clockwise loops await. Runners will then journey back along the Fred Meijer trail, heading east towards Sheid Park, before turning around and returning west. The final stretch leads back under the bridge to a festive finish line in the Trail Head parking lot. Typical race day conditions in late August in Saranac feature comfortable highs around 81°F and lows around 61°F, with a relatively low 14% chance of precipitation, creating pleasant running weather.
More than just a race, the BT4S BridgeFest 5k is a family-friendly event deeply rooted in community spirit. It's held in conjunction with Saranac's annual Bridge Festival, a lively celebration that includes parades, rides, games, food, crafts, and entertainment for everyone. As an inaugural event, participants will be part of history, receiving a race t-shirt and a finisher's medal to commemorate their achievement. Importantly, proceeds from the race will support Better Together 4 Saranac, a local non-profit dedicated to enhancing the community through shared information, events, and activities.
