BTC Peavine Falls Run

Prepare for a spirited Independence Day challenge at the BTC Peavine Falls Run, a beloved 8.2-mile tradition set for July 4, 2026, in picturesque Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham, AL. This iconic event, now in its 45th year, offers a delightful alternative to larger city races, fostering a strong sense of community as runners gather with a few hundred friends for a truly memorable experience. Hosted by the Birmingham Track Club, the race has earned a reputation for its fun course and inviting atmosphere, making the finisher's shirt a badge of honor for years to come.

The 8.2-mile course promises a diverse and engaging run. It features 6.9 miles of rolling asphalt road and 1.3 miles of single-track dirt trail, all contained within the scenic beauty of Oak Mountain State Park. Runners will face a challenging climb up Peavine Falls Road for approximately 3.5 miles, gaining about 460 feet in elevation, before descending the same road and tackling a winding dirt trail to the finish. Water and sports drink aid stations are strategically placed at the start/finish area, halfway up the mountain, and at the turnaround point at the top, ensuring runners stay hydrated.

Starting and finishing near the Dogwood Picnic Pavilion, the BTC Peavine Falls Run provides a unique blend of road and trail running. While the course is not closed, allowing you to enjoy the park's natural surroundings, typical race day conditions in early July can see highs around 92°F and lows around 70°F, with a 14% chance of precipitation. This chip-timed race, with a 7:00 AM start for runners (walkers begin at 6:30 AM), offers a spirited way to celebrate the holiday, complete with a specially designed gender-neutral shirt for participants.
