The race unfolds entirely on the picturesque Western Maryland Rail Trail (WMRT), promising a mostly flat and out-and-back experience amidst the breathtaking scenery and rich C&O Canal history of Hancock. Marathoners will tackle two 6.56-mile out-and-back loops, while half marathoners complete one such loop, and 10K participants enjoy a single 3.11-mile out-and-back stretch. With a minimal elevation change (max 481 ft, min 413 ft), the course is designed for speed. Typical race day conditions in mid-October offer ideal running weather, with highs around 66F and lows around 44F, and only a 13% chance of precipitation.
