Prepare for a true test of grit and spirit at the Capt'n Karl's Trail Series - Muleshoe Bend, taking place on June 27, 2026, in picturesque Spicewood, Texas. As the second event in the original and longest-running night trail series in the country, this race promises an unforgettable adventure under the stars. Set within the scenic Muleshoe Bend LCRA Recreation Area, approximately 40 miles northwest of Austin in the Lower Colorado River and Lake Travis region, runners will tackle a challenging and technical course through dense woods and rocky terrain.
The Muleshoe Bend course is renowned for its demanding nature, featuring approximately 3,094 feet of elevation gain that will push your endurance to its limits. These deceptively tough trails, characterized by thick foliage and heavy woods, create a peaceful environment that, while beautiful, also contributes to significant heat and humidity, as typical race day conditions see highs around 92°F and lows around 72°F. Distances offered include a 60K, 30K, 20K, 10K, 6.2M, 5K, and a 1-mile Youth Trail Run, ensuring a challenge for every level of trail runner.
Runners can expect well-marked trails, with the 60K and 30K distances supported by three fully serviced aid stations (including the start/finish), while the 20K and 10K courses feature two aid stations. For 5K participants, aid is available at the start and finish of the loop, so carrying adequate hydration is highly recommended. Embrace the unique challenge of a Central Texas summer night as you navigate this celebrated course, earning impressive swag and a finisher's medal for your efforts.
