Carpe Diem - Carpe Noctem Half Marathon and 10K

Prepare for a truly unique trail running experience at the Carpe Diem - Carpe Noctem Half Marathon and 10K, set to take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Commerce Charter Township, Michigan. Hosted by Trivium Racing, this event challenges runners to "seize the day" and "seize the night" by offering the opportunity to race on the same course both by daylight and under the stars. Choose from a Half Marathon (13.1M) or 10K in the morning or evening, or take on the ultimate "Double" challenge by completing both for a full day of trail adventure. Double participants earn two distinct medals that magnetically connect to form a single, epic keepsake.

The scenic trails of Proud Lake State Recreation Area provide a wide, runnable, and generally beginner-friendly course, featuring picturesque scenery and occasional roots to keep things engaging. While there are some hills, they are not steep or sustained, making for an enjoyable run. Expect impeccable course markings with turn signs at every intersection and confidence markers every tenth of a mile, ensuring you can focus on your stride. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course, with the Half Marathon offering six waterstops stocked with water, Gatorade, and Hüma gels, while the 10K provides two waterstops with water and Gatorade. Typical race day conditions in mid-April bring highs around 55°F and lows around 35°F, with a 13% chance of precipitation, offering ideal running weather.

Beyond the exceptional trail running, Carpe Diem - Carpe Noctem fosters a vibrant community atmosphere. Between the morning and evening races, participants are invited to a full-day trail hangout complete with hot food, a community potluck, lawn games, music, coffee, and campfires, providing ample opportunity to relax and connect with fellow runners. Headlamps are required for evening finishers, adding an adventurous element to conquering the trails after sunset. Parking is conveniently located near the start/finish line within the Proud Lake State Recreation Area Modern Campground, though a State Recreation Passport is required for park entry.
