Embark on a truly historic journey at the Charles E Davis Independence Run, taking place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in scenic Eastport, Maine. This esteemed event, recently inducted into the Maine Running Hall of Fame Class of 2024, is celebrated as the third oldest race in Maine, marking its 57th year of tradition and community spirit. Runners can choose between a challenging 7-mile run, starting in Perry at the junction of Route 1 and Route 190, or a refreshing 4-mile walk, beginning on Carlow Island on Route 190. Both courses wind along the picturesque Route 190, also known as County Road, culminating in a festive finish in Eastport. Unique to this race, participants will navigate the course on the right side of the road, guided by a police escort and followed by an ambulance for safety.
