Christmas in July Half Marathon and 5K (Indianapolis)

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this unique event offers a spirited summer twist on holiday cheer, inviting runners to embrace the festive atmosphere as they tackle either a half marathon or 5K. The race kicks off from Big Lug Canteen at 1435 E 86th Street, with the Half Marathon starting at 7:00 AM and the 5K at 7:30 AM. Typical race day conditions in late July see highs around 86F and lows around 67F, with a 13% chance of precipitation, making the shaded portions of the course particularly welcome.

Runners will enjoy an out-and-back course along the scenic Monon Trail, offering a "pretty flat and fast" experience with "some hills" and ample shade to help beat the summer heat. The route provides engaging city views, meandering past local landmarks and along the river. Aid stations are strategically placed approximately every mile, fully stocked with water and snacks, and some even offering full water bottles to keep you hydrated and fueled. The festive experience culminates in a lively post-race Christmas party starting at 8:30 AM, featuring "Elf's Treats" such as frozen goodies, package snacks, root beer, and ice cream, along with beer or wine for participants aged 21 and over.
