About This Race

Prepare for an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Cohutta Wilderness at the Coyote Ugly 30k & 50k, set to challenge and inspire runners on March 7, 2026. Kicking off from the renowned Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp in Ellijay, Georgia, this event offers both a demanding 50K and a spirited 30K, each promising a spectacular blend of rugged terrain and breathtaking North Georgia scenery. Runners can expect typical race day conditions to feature comfortable highs around 58°F and lows near 38°F, with a 20% chance of precipitation, making for ideal trail running weather.

The Coyote Ugly course is celebrated for its dynamic profile, beginning with nearly two miles of gravel road before ascending Pinhoti 2 and Pinhoti 1 trails, leading into the picturesque Bear Creek section. Here, you'll navigate several creek crossings and be rewarded with "ridiculous views" from the higher elevations. While the 30K covers approximately 19 miles with 2,900 feet of climbing, the 50K extends to about 30 miles and boasts around 4,400 feet of elevation gain, incorporating additional segments of the Bear Creek trail and a second climb over Pinhoti 1. Despite its challenging climbs, runners have praised the course as "fast, fun, and just enough climbing," with largely runnable downhills.

Coyote Ugly Racing is known for creating an atmosphere that is both challenging and beginner-friendly, aiming for a 100% finish rate within the 7-hour 30K and 10-hour 50K cutoffs. Aid stations are strategically placed and generously stocked, offering typical ultra fare such as water, electrolytes, chips, candy, PB&J, grilled cheese/quesadillas at the Bear Creek summit, avocado tortillas, and a variety of soft drinks, ensuring runners are well-fueled throughout their race. The excellent course markings, well-maintained trails, and highly supportive volunteers contribute to the race's sterling reputation, making it a perennial sell-out.
