This celebrated event offers three challenging distances: a 50 Miler, 50K, and a 16 Miler, all set within the renowned Withlacoochee State Forest, an area lauded by the World Wildlife Fund as one of the "10 Coolest Places in North America". Runners will traverse a beautiful and demanding course composed primarily of single-track trails that wind through central Florida's picturesque landscape, featuring long leaf pines, scrub oak-covered hills, serene creek bottoms, and cypress ponds. While generally considered flat for Florida, the course does present a few small hills and challenging sections, including a notable deep sinkhole known as "Devil's Hole". Enjoy generous tree canopy providing shade along much of the route, with typical race day conditions seeing highs around 82F and lows around 54F, and only a 9% chance of precipitation.

The Croom Fools Run features a unique looped format, with the 50-mile race completing three loops of a 16-mile main trail, the 50K running two loops, and the 16-mile event covering a single loop. This design allows 50M and 50K runners convenient access to drop bags at the main staging area (Tucker Hill) between loops. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course, with three well-stocked stops per 16-mile loop offering water, sports drinks, gels, and various food items.
