David Lerner Police Appreciation Run

The David Lerner Police Appreciation Run invites runners and walkers to Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, for a meaningful 5K event. This long-standing race, presented by David Lerner Associates and the Greater Long Island Running Club, is renowned for its dedication to honoring local law enforcement and providing crucial support to police families in times of crisis through the Long Island Police Crisis Foundation. Over the past three decades, this event has proudly distributed more than $500,000 to those who serve and protect our communities.

The 5K course follows the traditional, generally flat paths of Eisenhower Park, offering a pleasant and scenic experience for participants of all ages and abilities. The race kicks off at 7:00 PM from Field 2, Parking Lot 2. Typical race day conditions in early June feature comfortable highs around 76F and lows around 60F, with a minimal 15% chance of precipitation, creating ideal running weather. In addition to the main 5K, a free 1/4 Mile Kids Fun Run ensures a family-friendly atmosphere. Runners can expect to receive a soft cotton relaxed-fit tank top and enjoy post-run refreshments, all while contributing to a truly impactful cause. Special awards are also presented to the top male and female law enforcement finishers, adding a unique competitive element to this appreciative gathering.
