Lace up your shoes for the inspiring Defeat Myeloma race, returning to Seattle's scenic Magnuson Park on June 28, 2026. This family-friendly event offers participants a choice of a 5K run or a 1-mile walk, along with a spirited 500M Kids Dash, making it perfect for all ages and abilities. The course itself is celebrated for being flat and fast, providing an ideal setting to chase a personal best while enjoying picturesque views of the water and majestic Mt. Rainier. For those unable to join in person, a virtual option allows you to contribute to the cause from anywhere.

Beyond the beautiful course, Defeat Myeloma stands out for its powerful mission: 100% of all proceeds directly benefit multiple myeloma cancer research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Since its inception as MoveMMORE Seattle in 2013 and transitioning to Defeat Myeloma in 2017, the event has raised over $1.4 million, uniting a community dedicated to celebrating survivors and remembering loved ones. Runners can expect a supportive atmosphere, complete with a water station at the 5K halfway point and refreshing water and snacks awaiting them at the finish line, alongside lively music and engaging activities.

Race day in late June typically brings pleasant Seattle weather, with highs around 74°F and lows around 56°F, and a minimal 3% chance of precipitation, providing excellent conditions for a run or walk. Strollers and well-behaved dogs on short leashes are welcome, asked to line up towards the back of the starting area. Join fellow runners and walkers in Magnuson Park, near the boat launch start/finish line, for a rewarding experience that fuels vital cancer research and creates lasting memories.
