The Dirty Grass Soul Rockin’ and Running 5k offers a patriotic and musical start to your Independence Day, taking place on July 4, 2026, in Fallston, NC. This 3rd annual event features a 3.1-mile (5k) distance, with options for a timed 5k and a student 5k tailored for ages 5-17. Runners will embark on a scenic road course that begins and finishes at Fallston Elementary School. The route winds through charming local streets, including NC Hwy 18, Charolais Dr., Fallston-Waco Rd., NC 182 (Stage Coach Trail), and Boggs Dr., providing a pleasant running experience through the heart of Fallston.
This unique race stands out not only for its festive date but also for its heartwarming mission, as 100% of event proceeds directly support music education programs in Cleveland County Schools through the Dirty Grass Soul Music & Arts Fund. The event kicks off at 7:30 AM EDT, with typical race day conditions in early July presenting highs around 91F and lows around 65F, alongside a 14% chance of precipitation, so runners should prepare for a warm summer run. All finishers will proudly receive a commemorative medal, and competitive spirits will be rewarded with awards for the 1st overall male and female, as well as the top three in each age group. Lace up your shoes and join the community for a rockin' good time while supporting local music education!
