Dogwood Ultra Marathons

Prepare for an unforgettable challenge at the Dogwood Ultra Marathons, returning for its 11th year at Twin Lakes State Park in Green Bay, VA, on March 20, 2026. This event offers a range of distances, including 10-mile, 12-hour, and 24-hour options, available for both solo runners and relay teams, with some distances even offering unique day or night start times. Runners will tackle a deceptively tough 3.42-mile loop course, featuring rolling hills and approximately 400 feet of elevation gain with each circuit. The scenic route winds through the park, offering multiple views of the water and including two stream crossings that might just get your feet wet. Typical race day conditions in late March bring comfortable highs around 61°F and lows near 36°F, with a modest 13% chance of precipitation.

The Dogwood Ultra Marathons is known for its runner-centric atmosphere. A single, well-stocked aid station at the start/finish area, located at Shelter 1, provides continuous support with typical ultra fare, water, Tailwind, and soda. Runners particularly appreciate the rotating hot food options, including hot dogs and "world-famous Quesadillas," with vegetarian and gluten-free choices also available. The convenience of a loop course means you can easily access your personal aid setup, and primitive camping is available right at the start line. This cupless event since 2020 encourages sustainability by allowing runners to leave their reusable cups at the start/finish. Finisher awards include handmade pottery, with special recognition like belt buckles for those conquering 100 miles.
