This exciting 1-mile sprint through the heart of downtown Fredericksburg offers runners of all ages and abilities a chance to test their limits on a USATF Certified Course. The event is more than just a race; it's a premier annual fundraiser dedicated to supporting the Rappahannock Area Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), an organization vital in advocating for abused and neglected children.

The Downtown Mile for CASA kicks off from the 900 block of Charles Street, near Castiglia's Italian Restaurant, and promises a fun post-race atmosphere. Participants can choose from various waves, including dedicated starts for women (ages 15+), men (ages 15+), youth (ages 6-14), and a "Superhero Run" that welcomes families and walkers of all ages. As the 9th race in the Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Series, it also offers finishers points towards the annual series. Historically, the race has been organized by the Fredericksburg Area Running Club since 1994, and its shift to September ensures cooler race day conditions, with typical highs around 79F and lows near 56F, and only a 14% chance of precipitation.

While the course is a fast mile, water will be available at the finish line, and porta-potties are conveniently located at both the start and finish areas.
