Embark on an exhilarating trail challenge with the Emerald City Trail Series 8M race on June 4, 2026, in scenic Eugene, Oregon. This demanding 8-mile course, renowned as potentially the most challenging of the series, features a significant 2,000 feet of ascent as it winds through the diverse trails of Howard Buford Recreational Area and Mt. Pisgah Arboretum. Runners will tackle steep, shaded grades of the North Boundary Trail before earning the incredible reward of reaching the true summit of Mt. Pisgah, the sole route in the series to do so. From this 1531-foot peak, panoramic vistas await, showcasing the distant Cascade Mountains, including Diamond Peak and Mt. Bachelor, along with expansive views of the Willamette River, Eugene, Springfield, and surrounding towns.
The course descends via a gravel trail, offering breathtaking glimpses of Goshen and Pleasant Hill. Hosted by the Big Timber Running Club, this "fun trail race series" is celebrated for its wide variety of trails and stunning natural beauty. Starting from the #38 trailhead near the Sheriff's Mounted Posse arena at the North end of Buford Park, participants should be prepared for typical race day conditions with highs around 72°F and lows around 46°F, and only an 8% chance of precipitation. Conquer the challenging elevation and immerse yourself in the natural splendor that defines Eugene's "Emerald City" spirit.
