Lace up for a truly unique trail running experience at the inaugural Empire Ranch Run on January 24, 2026, in picturesque Sonoita, Arizona. This exciting event marks the first time runners will explore the historic grounds of the Empire Ranch, set within the stunning rolling grasslands of the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. Choose your challenge from a 10K, 5K, or a family-friendly 1-Mile walk/run. The 10K offers a challenging route through the grasslands and along the Empire Gulch, while the 5K follows a smoother path along the gulch, and the 1-Mile course is a delightful nature walk on the Heritage Trail. Expect a "green" difficulty rating with some rocky sections and gentle rolling hills on a mix of dirt trails, BLM 2-track, and cattle paths, offering breathtaking high Sonoran Desert scenery.

Beyond the exceptional courses, the Empire Ranch Run doubles as a vibrant celebration of western heritage, kicking off the Empire Ranch's 150th anniversary. Runners and spectators alike can immerse themselves in ranch life with post-race activities including branding workshops, leather bag lacing, roping demonstrations, and a "Saddle Selfie Station." Typical race day conditions in late January present an ideal running climate, with highs around 61F and lows around 28F, accompanied by a minimal 4% chance of precipitation, ensuring a refreshing outdoor adventure.

Produced in partnership with Run Tucson and the Empire Ranch Foundation, this event directly supports the preservation of the historic Empire Ranch's buildings and landscape. Participants will start and finish amidst the grandeur of the historic ranch, with ample on-site parking available. This is more than just a race; it’s an unparalleled opportunity to run through history and connect with one of Arizona's most storied landscapes, making it a must-do event for runners seeking a memorable experience.
