About This Race

Embark on an unforgettable trail running adventure at the Falling Water Ultras, set for April 25, 2026, in the stunning New River Gorge region of Danese, West Virginia. This event, hosted by Rim to River Endurance Co., offers challenging 100K and 50K distances, including solo, 2-person, and 4-person relay options for the 100K. Typical race day conditions in late April bring pleasant highs around 68°F and lows around 41°F, with a 24% chance of precipitation, creating an invigorating atmosphere for runners.

The course is renowned for its immersive beauty and demanding terrain, consisting of four 15.5-mile loops that traverse the trails of ACE Adventure Resort and plunge into the breathtaking New River Gorge National Park. Each loop presents a formidable challenge with approximately 2,400 feet of elevation gain and loss, featuring steep climbs, descents, and technical sections. Runners will navigate along the banks of the New River, encounter numerous picturesque waterfalls, and test their agility with rock-hopping creek crossings at Rush Run and Arbuckle Creek. The varied scenery, from lush forests to river views, ensures that each lap reveals new details, even as fatigue sets in.

Runners can anticipate a supportive race experience, starting and finishing at the Mountain Top Campground at ACE Adventure Resort, which also offers convenient on-site camping as part of registration. While the main start/finish area boasts a "hyped & overstocked" aid station accessible to crews, participants must carry their own food and fuel for the loops. Hydration stations, supplying water and Gnarly Fuel2-O or Hyperlyte Liquid Performance, are strategically placed around miles 5.5 and 10 of each loop, though runners must bring their own hydration vessels as it is a cupless race. Completing the 100K earns a custom belt buckle, while 50K solo and relay finishers receive a custom medal, celebrating a significant accomplishment in a race known for its challenging spirit and welcoming community.
