Get ready to lace up your running shoes for a celebration of community and a crucial cause at the Family Enrichment Center's Run & Walk for Children in Bowling Green, KY. Marking its 30th Anniversary in 2026, this beloved event traditionally kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month with a vibrant atmosphere on March 27th and 28th. Participants can choose their challenge from a Half Marathon (13.1M), a 5K Run (3.1M), or a 5K Fun Walk (3.1M), all starting from scenic Ephram White Park. While new course maps for 2026 are on the way, the half marathon features a three-hour time limit, ensuring a manageable pace for runners. You can expect typical race day conditions with highs around 66F and lows around 42F, and a modest 16% chance of precipitation.

This milestone year promises extra excitement, throwing it back to the 90s with favorite songs, movies, and even "iconic green SLIME" to enhance the festive spirit. The festivities begin on Friday evening, March 27th, with a Family Matters Expo and Pasta Party during packet pick-up, followed by a free Kids One Mile Glow Run for children 12 and under. Kids can even participate in a Mini Marathon Challenge, completing 12 miles beforehand to earn an extra medal upon finishing the Glow Run. On Saturday morning, March 28th, roads into Ephram White Park close at 7:45 AM for the main events, which benefit the Family Enrichment Center's vital child abuse prevention programs.

All registered participants will receive a long-sleeve race shirt and a finisher's medal, with Half Marathon and 5K Run participants sporting a dri-fit, moisture-wicking SPORT-TEK shirt. While there won't be a formal awards ceremony, overall and age category winners will be announced throughout the morning at the Bluegrass Timing tent. Join hundreds of runners and walkers to make unforgettable memories and support a significant cause in the Bowling Green community.
