Fantasy 5K

Get ready to illuminate your run at the Fantasy 5K, a truly unique nighttime experience hitting the streets of Madison, WI, on November 14, 2026. This family-friendly event invites runners and walkers alike to "light up the night" along the scenic shores of Lake Monona, with the stunning Madison skyline as your backdrop. The race kicks off at 5:00 PM from the top of Olin Park, synchronizing with the official Holiday Lighting Ceremony, offering participants an unparalleled start through a dazzling maze of holiday lights, even led by a festive firetruck.

The 5K course is a delightful journey, guiding you through the festive displays of Olin Park before transitioning onto the Capital City Bike Path. Runners will enjoy a mostly flat course with minimal elevation changes (approximately +78 ft / -78 ft) as they head towards the Monona Terrace Convention Center for the turnaround, returning to the lively start/finish area. Typical race day conditions in mid-November bring highs around 46F and lows near 30F, with only an 8% chance of precipitation, creating a crisp and invigorating atmosphere for your run.

Beyond the illuminated course and picturesque views, the Fantasy 5K promises a memorable post-race celebration. All participants receive a race shirt or hat and a bib, with an after-party hosted inside the Olin Park Pavilion featuring drinks, food like Walking Tacos (with a vegetarian option), and live Christmas music performed on steel drums by Bahama Bob Island Music.
