Father's Day 5K & 10K

Lace up your running shoes and join the Father's Day 5K & 10K on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Chesterton, Indiana, for a memorable celebration of fitness and family. This popular event, part of the Race the Region Racing Series, offers both a 5K run/walk and a more challenging 10K, welcoming runners and walkers of all abilities. The scenic course winds along the paved Iron Horse Heritage Trail, also known as the Duneland Prairie Trail, providing a relatively flat and fast route ideal for achieving a personal best or simply enjoying a refreshing morning run under a canopy of trees. The 5K course features an elevation gain of approximately 41 feet.

Beginning at the Imagination Glen East Soccer Fields, the race promises a fun-filled atmosphere from start to finish. Participants can look forward to a custom finisher's award, professional chip timing with live results, and clearly marked turns. Typical race day conditions in late June bring highs around 84°F and lows near 62°F, with a modest 14% chance of precipitation, creating generally favorable running weather. Beyond the race itself, this event proudly supports the Portage High School boys cross country team.

Packet pickup is convenient, with options available on the Friday and Saturday before the race at Extra Mile Fitness Company in Valparaiso, as well as on race morning starting at 6:30 AM at Imagination Glen East Soccer Fields. The 10K kicks off at 7:30 AM CDT, followed by the 5K run/walk at 7:45 AM CDT. Celebrate Father's Day with an active start, community spirit, and post-race refreshments, making for a truly unforgettable experience.
