For those seeking a greater test, the 12K course is a challenging trail run that ascends the scenic Panorama bluffs and incorporates engaging single-track trails. Both distances offer stunning views of the preserve's restored riparian forests, cottonwood and willow stands, and diverse wildlife such as great blue herons and beavers, along with unique Bakersfield Cactus blooms. Race day conditions typically feature pleasant weather, with highs around 68°F and lows around 44°F, and only a 3% chance of precipitation, providing an ideal setting for a winter trail run.
