Ignite your Independence Day with the 12th Annual Firecracker 4 Mile in beautiful Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, on July 4, 2026! This beloved event, held at the scenic Laurel Hill County Park, offers a festive and challenging experience for runners and walkers alike, with both a 4-mile race and a 1-mile kids' run available. The course winds through mostly shaded, tree-lined paths, providing a welcome respite from the typical July heat, though runners should be prepared for typical race day conditions with highs around 87°F and lows around 77°F, and a 16% chance of precipitation. The terrain includes a trail run experience through a grassy, sometimes uneven, field, making for an engaging and varied route.
Beyond the race itself, the Firecracker 4 Miler is a true celebration. Participants consistently praise the lively atmosphere, which includes live music, delicious hotdogs, and refreshing cold beverages post-race, making it a perfect way to celebrate with friends and family. Race packets are available on-site starting at 7:30 AM, with the 4-mile run kicking off at 8:30 AM, followed by the kids' run around 9:45 AM or 10:00 AM. Hydration is highly encouraged pre-race due to the summer conditions. Entering Laurel Hill County Park is accessible via the Highway 41 entrance. Your participation also supports a great cause, as proceeds benefit the Newberry College Track & Field/Cross Country teams.
